Formula and calculation logic

Monthly benefit = number of children × (ordinary monthly rate + applicable regional supplement)

Annual benefit = monthly benefit × 12

The estimate multiplies the monthly rate by the number of children and then shows a 12-month total.

Choose the regional supplement only if both you and your child live in Finnmark, Svalbard, or one of the qualifying Northern Troms municipalities.

This tool estimates the amount. It does not decide whether you meet NAV's residence, custody, or other eligibility conditions.

Assumptions

  • Uses NAV's ordinary rate of 2,012 NOK per child per month from 1 February 2026.
  • The 512 NOK monthly Finnmark and Svalbard supplement is included only when you select the regional option.
  • Extended child benefit, shared custody, cash-for-care, and individual eligibility are not included.
