Estimate

Potential gross savings per year: 1,800 NOK

Shifted energy
2,250 kWh
Annual cost
1,800 NOK
Monthly cost
150 NOK

Rough estimate before battery degradation, investment cost, grid charges and taxes beyond the entered price spread.

How to use this tool

  1. Use Home Battery Savings Tool for the question described above, and check that the inputs match your records and time period.
  2. Enter usable battery capacity (Usable capacity per cycle.).
  3. Enter cycles per year (Estimated full-equivalent cycles.).
  4. Enter average price difference (Value difference before battery losses.).
  5. Enter round-trip efficiency (Share of stored energy returned.).
  6. Change usable battery capacity, cycles per year, average price difference, round-trip efficiency to compare scenarios, then check the units in the result.

Worked example with the prefilled values

This example shows how Home Battery Savings Tool uses its starting values. Change the calculator inputs to estimate your own situation.

Usable battery capacity
10 kWh
Cycles per year
250
Average price difference
0.8 NOK/kWh
Round-trip efficiency
90 %

Potential gross savings per year: 1,800 NOK

  • Shifted energy2,250 kWh
  • Annual cost1,800 NOK
  • Monthly cost150 NOK

Rough estimate before battery degradation, investment cost, grid charges and taxes beyond the entered price spread.

Formula and calculation logic

Annual shifted energy (kWh) = usable capacity × equivalent cycles per year × round-trip efficiency ÷ 100

Potential gross annual savings = shifted energy × entered average price spread

Annual shifted energy is usable capacity × equivalent full cycles × round-trip efficiency. Gross savings multiply it by the entered average price spread.

Assumptions

  • This does not model hourly prices, charging limits, degradation, investment cost, grid tariffs, taxes, or whether a battery can capture the assumed spread.

Questions about this tool

Does the battery estimate include installation and grid charges?

No. It estimates gross value from shifted energy and an average price difference. Investment, degradation, grid charges, taxes, and hourly battery operation are not modeled.
