Norway electricity bill and price plan tool
Compare a spot price, ordinary electricity support, or Norgespris. Add your monthly use, price area, grid energy charge, and fixed fee to estimate the power portion of a Norwegian household bill.
Quick math
Use this for quick arithmetic, percentages, or to check figures while filling in the main tool, without leaving the page.
Estimate
2,366 NOK this month
- Monthly bill
- 2,366 NOK
- About this much per year
- 28,397 NOK
- Average per kWh
- 1.97 NOK
How this breaks down
- Power and grid energy
- 1,440 NOK
- Price arrangement
- Ordinary electricity support
- Estimated electricity support
- −41 NOK

Formula and calculation logic
Energy charge = electricity cost under selected plan + monthly kWh × grid rate
Tax = monthly kWh × regional electricity tax; VAT = (energy charge + tax + fixed fee) × applicable VAT rate
Estimated bill = energy charge + tax + fixed fee + VAT − estimated support
The estimate separates the power price from the grid energy charge, fixed fee, electricity tax, and VAT. Prices are entered in øre per kWh.
The ordinary electricity tax for 2026 is 7.13 øre per kWh. Finnmark and the qualifying municipalities in Troms use the reduced tax of 0.60 øre.
Norgespris is 40 øre per kWh before VAT for supported use. Ordinary electricity support is approximated from the monthly average price; the official amount is calculated hour by hour.
Assumptions
- Spot and grid prices default to round examples: 80 øre and 40 øre, plus a 400 NOK fixed fee. Replace them with your invoice or your current contract.
- The ordinary-support result is an estimate based on a monthly average, not the official hourly calculation. Both support and Norgespris have monthly usage limits.
- Supplier mark-ups and other contract-specific charges are not included unless you add them to the power or grid price.

Questions about this tool
Why are prices asked for in øre?
Norwegian spot and grid energy prices are usually quoted in øre per kWh. 100 øre is 1 NOK.
Which region covers Tromsø or Bodø?
Use Nordland and the rest of Troms. That keeps the ordinary electricity tax and removes VAT. Use the Finnmark option only for Finnmark and the Troms municipalities that have the reduced electricity tax.
Does this include district heating?
No. It is a model of an electricity bill only.
