Estimate
Estimated annual cost: 4,380 NOK
- Annual cost
- 4,380 NOK
- Monthly cost
- 365 NOK
- Annual use
- 2,920 kWh
Assumes the same usage and electricity price throughout the year.
How to use this tool
- Use Water Heater Electricity Cost Tool for the question described above, and check that the inputs match your records and time period.
- Enter heater power (Rated power.).
- Enter heating hours per day (Estimated active heating time.).
- Enter electricity price (Energy price including the parts you want to include.).
- Change heater power, heating hours per day, electricity price to compare scenarios, then check the units in the result.
Worked example with the prefilled values
This example shows how Water Heater Electricity Cost Tool uses its starting values. Change the calculator inputs to estimate your own situation.
- Heater power
- 2 kW
- Heating hours per day
- 4 h/day
- Electricity price
- 1.5 NOK/kWh
Estimated annual cost: 4,380 NOK
- Annual cost4,380 NOK
- Monthly cost365 NOK
- Annual use2,920 kWh
Assumes the same usage and electricity price throughout the year.
Formula and calculation logic
Annual electricity (kWh) = rated power (kW) × active heating hours per day × 365
Annual cost = annual electricity × price per kWh
Annual energy is rated kilowatts × active heating hours per day × 365. Estimated annual cost multiplies that energy by your entered price per kilowatt-hour.
Assumptions
- The default active hours are only an example. Thermostat cycling, incoming water temperature, tank losses, household demand, and seasonal prices change actual use.

Questions about this tool
Why can my water heater use more or less electricity than this estimate?
The estimate assumes a fixed number of active heating hours. Household hot-water use, incoming water temperature, tank losses, and thermostat cycling change the actual consumption.
