Formula and calculation logic
Marks per question = total marks distributed as evenly as possible across the question count
Suggested minutes per question = exam duration × question marks ÷ total marks
The total mark allocation is divided as evenly as possible across the questions.
Any remainder marks are assigned one at a time to the first questions.
The time estimate is a planning aid based on the duration and total marks you enter.
Assumptions
- The generator creates an editable outline, not subject-specific exam questions or an answer key.
- Equal or near-equal mark allocation may not suit every assessment; adjust the paper to match learning outcomes.
- Review exam accessibility, instructions, marking criteria and institutional requirements before use.
