Formula and calculation logic

Daily estimate = min(annual salary, 6 × G) ÷ 260

Estimated gross benefit = daily estimate × covered workdays

Estimate gross sick pay from annual income and the number of covered days.

The estimate caps annual income at 6 G and converts it to a daily amount using 260 workdays.

Assumptions

  • Assumes full sickness absence, 100% replacement, 260 workdays per year, and income capped at 6 G. NAV uses a personal sickness-benefit basis and eligibility rules; this estimate does not assess them.

Questions about this tool

Is the result my NAV payment?

No. It is a gross estimate and does not assess NAV eligibility or your personal benefit basis.

Why is income capped at 6 G?

NAV generally caps sickness benefit income at six times the National Insurance basic amount.

Are overtime and variable pay included?

The tool only uses the annual salary you enter. NAV determines which recent earnings count.

How should I count days?

Enter covered workdays, not calendar days. The estimate uses 260 workdays per year.
