Formula and calculation logic
Holiday pay = holiday-pay basis × holiday-pay rate
Vacation deduction = monthly salary ÷ workdays per month × vacation days
Estimated gross holiday-pay month = monthly salary + holiday pay − vacation deduction
Plan your holiday-pay month by combining accrued holiday pay, the vacation salary deduction and estimated gross pay for the month.
Holiday pay is calculated from the earning basis and selected rate. The vacation deduction uses monthly salary divided by entered payroll workdays, multiplied by vacation days; the two amounts are combined with one month's salary.
Assumptions
- Gross planning estimate only. Employer payroll conventions vary, and holiday pay is taxable income even where withholding differs in the payout month. No individual tax or payslip calculation is made.
