Each month: ending customers = starting customers × (1 − churn rate) + new customers

Ending MRR = ending customers × monthly revenue per customer

Ending ARR run rate = ending MRR × 12

Project customer churn, ending subscribers, and recurring revenue using a monthly churn rate and new-customer estimate.

Each month the model applies customer churn, adds new customers, and multiplies ending customers by average monthly revenue per account.

Assumptions

  • Assumes constant monthly customer churn, new-customer additions, and average revenue per account. Cohorts, revenue churn, expansion, contraction, discounts, and one-time revenue are not modeled.

Questions about this tool

What does customer churn mean here?

It is the percentage of customers at the start of each month who cancel during that month.

How is revenue churn handled?

This model estimates customer churn only. It assumes fixed average revenue per account and does not model expansion or contraction revenue.

Can customers be fractional?

Yes. This is an expected-value projection, so fractional customer counts are possible.

Is this a forecast?

It is a scenario based on constant churn, acquisition, and average revenue inputs, not a forecast of actual results.
